Ofsted Outstanding oustanding logo blue

In May 2011 Ofsted inspected the school’s social care and boarding environment which was rated ‘outstanding’:

‘Pupils are provided with an excellent level of care and pastoral support. They are cared for by staff who know them well; their views are sought and they feel listened to. The school provides pupils with a safe and nurturing environment and an extensive programme of activities that contributes to their social and self-help skills.’

In January 2010 Taverham Hall School Nursery was inspected and the overall effectiveness of the Early Years provision at Taverham Hall School was rated as ‘outstanding’.

Early Years provision refers to provision regulated by Ofsted for children from birth to 31 August following their fifth birthday – the early years group. As such the report also applies to our Reception children.

Independent Schools Inspectorate Team

In their November 2010 inspection report Taverham Hall School was described as providing an excellent all-round education. The well-planned, wide-ranging and stimulating curriculum enables all pupils to reach high standards in relation to their age and ability.’

Additionally, ‘There is an excellent success rate in Common Entrance examinations and Year 8 leavers consistently obtain places in their first choice of senior school, several with scholarships.’

The ISI also rated the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Taverham Hall School as ‘outstanding’ in ALL of the following areas:

1. the overall effectiveness of the EYFS

2. the effectiveness of the leadership and management of the EYFS

3. the quality of the provision in the EYFS

4. the outcomes for the children in the EYFS

OCN Forest School Leader Award Status

Taverham Hall School is qualified to deliver Forest School teaching to the highest standard of Forest School practitioners.

Green Tree School

Taverham Hall School has achieved the Bronze standard on the Green Tree Award Scheme of the Woodland Trust.

Recycool

Taverham Hall School is registered with Recycool and collect used ink cartridges, toners etc.

National Healthy Schools Status

Taverham Hall School has been awarded the National Healthy Schools Status which promotes the link between good health, behaviour and achievement.

To qualify for National Healthy School status required Taverham Hall to meet criteria in four core themes. These criteria relate not only to the taught curriculum but also to the  emotional, physical and learning environment that the school provides and include personal, social and health education, healthy eating, physical activity and emotional health and wellbeing. 

Centre of Excellence for Norfolk Youth Cricket

Taverham Hall School’s Sports Hall facility is the Centre to Excellence for Norfolk Youth Cricket .

In addition the sports hall is used as the home venue for the National League Thoroughbred netball team’s indoor training.

The National Student Association Scheme (SAS)

Taverham Hall School was a placement school for the University of East Anglia’s (U.E.A)  Student Association Scheme. Unfortunately the local government has now discontinued this particular scheme.  

Norwich BioScience Institutes (NBI) School Engagement

Taverham Hall School work closely with the NBI’s Outreach Department who offer various scientific activities, expertise and resources to enhance the curriculum of pupils here at Taverham Hall School.

The aim is to inspire young people and raise awareness of career opportunities within the field of Science.

NBI consists of The John Innes Centre, The Institute for Food Research, The Sainsbury Laboratory and The Genome Analysis Centre. Click here to read more about the NBI.
